COMMUNITY OUTREACH

In partnership with Working Films, the producers of Two Towns of Jasper have created an extensive outreach campaign that will bring the film to communities across the country.

Our fundamental outreach message is that we as Americans are all implicated in the larger narrative of racism and other forms of discrimination, and that our actions (or our refusals to act) reverberate throughout society. We hope our outreach activities & materials will help others understand how personal and racial backgrounds inform our individual perspectives on the world, and that by acknowledging our different perspectives, we have the important opportunity to move towards a common vision of social accord.

We have nine primary outreach partners: American Documentary/P.O.V. , the Independent Television Service (ITVS), the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), the National Black Programming Consortia (NBPC),the Television Race Initiative (TRI), the National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI), the National Conference for Community and Justice (NCCJ), the United Methodist Church (UMC), and Facing History and Ourselves (FHO). Two Towns of Jasper will be part of the ongoing programs of these diverse organizations. Individuals and organizations wishing to hold independent screenings may request a complimentary copy of the Television Race Initiative's Viewers Guide, available in PDF and hard-copy formats (see below).

ITVS COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS PROJECT

For over ten years, ITVS has fulfilled its mission of bringing powerful new voices to public television through its independent productions and national outreach efforts. In 1996, ITVS launched the Community Connections Project (CCP) to maximize the use of media as a tool for civic engagement and community development. The CCP collaborates with local field organizers, public television stations, national and community-based organizations, faith-based groups, community leaders and independent producers to foster dialogue, develop lasting partnerships and implement positive action.
